You may have read his previous novel “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.” Similarly, I liked—but did not love—this book, yet learned a lot from it and am glad I read it. There’s a table of characters at the beginning, but I found that I still had to pencil in details about them because with seven separate stories/time periods, it was a little hard to remember each one.
