** In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (2002, 1966)

I can’t believe I had never read this before.  It’s a terribly graphic and brutal story of two men who murder an entire family.  It’s also known as one of the first books of creative non-fiction.  Capote has taken a true story and written it like fiction, something really not done before, or at least not done with such a graphic story.  In doing so, he brings out the human side of the two killers, a side that the public was not interested in seeing which made this such a new form of non fiction.  A fascinating book.  And a good movie,Capote.  (non-fiction)
